About Centre for Parliamentary Studies (CPS)

The Centre for Parliamentary Studies (CPS) is a dynamic student-run research centre at the National Law Institute University, Bhopal. Founded in 2021, we promote advanced learning in Constitutional Law, Policy Research, and Legislative Drafting.

Our mission is to equip students with essential skills in legal drafting and academic research while enriching the intellectual landscape of NLIU. We organize a range of activities including publishing our journal, conducting certificate courses, and hosting regular discussions on constitutional law and parliamentary affairs.

CPS collaborates closely with ministries at central and state levels, engaging in academic research projects that address contemporary legal issues and drive policy reforms. Through these initiatives, we aim to shape future leaders of the Indian legal system, instilling in them a deep understanding of constitutional principles and the ability to navigate complex legal challenges with confidence and expertise.

During the past academic years, the Centre has made significant strides towards becoming a hub of academic excellence. We published the third and the latest volume of our flagship Journal for Legislative Drafting and Parliamentary Research (JLDPR). Our activities expanded to include a snippet series, legislative comment contributions, parliamentary session summaries, and a visit to the Parliament of India. We launched an online certificate course on Legislative Drafting in collaboration with Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy, the 2nd edition of which was the latest. These developments underscore our commitment to excellence and innovation in parliamentary studies.
