The Centre for Parliamentary Studies (CPS), National Law Institute University (NLIU), Bhopal, in collaboration with the Parliamentary Research and Training Institute for Democracies (PRIDE), organises an Annual Parliamentary Study Visit to the Parliament of India.

The visit offers students a unique opportunity to gain first-hand exposure to the working of India’s highest legislative institution. Each year, a select delegation of students, accompanied by the CPS Faculty-in-Charge, undertakes a guided academic tour designed to deepen understanding of parliamentary procedure, history, and architecture.

The programme includes interactive sessions with senior officials of the Lok Sabha Secretariat, who provide valuable insights into the history, functions, and research mechanisms of Parliament. Participants are also given an exclusive tour of the new Parliament building, exploring its symbolic architectural design — featuring the peacock motifs of the Lok Sabha and the lotus motifs of the Rajya Sabha — and key functional areas including the Speaker’s chamber, the Leader of the House and Opposition sections, and the historic Sengol.

Through this visit, CPS aims to foster a deeper appreciation of India’s democratic institutions, encouraging students to engage critically with the processes of law-making and governance. The annual study visit continues to be a transformative educational experience, inspiring participants to connect academic learning with the living spirit of parliamentary democracy.
